STL2GBR and STL2GDS
Artwork Conversion Software, Inc.
SOLIDWORKS designers who need to make masks for PCB or for integrated circuits can use STL2GBR which translates STL files to Gerber and STL2GDS which translates STL to GDSII. Artwork also supplies a tool to import Gerber, ODB++, or GDSII to SOLIDWORKS as a 3D geometry.

SOLID2MASK slices 3D structures into a series of 2D cros-sections (using the STL file format) and creates mask data for fabrication using IC and PCB lithography processes. There are two versions: STL2GDS, which creates GDSII stream files for IC processing; and STL2GBR, which creates Gerber RS274X files for printed circuit board films. Both versions include a CAD viewer so that the designer can review the mask data prior to sending it out. The STL2GBR version also includes a hole recognition routine that enables the designer to output flashes and generate drill files needed for the PCB manufacturing process.
Features
- Output Option-STL2GBR Gerber
- Gerber Output Option includes Gerber Viewer
- Output Option STL2GDS-GDSII Stream
- GDSII Output Option includes GDSVU-GDSII Viewer
Benefits
- STL output is more consistent and reliable than DXF
- Multiple masks can be generated from one STL file by selecting different Z values
- Translator includes a viewer to verify the mask data

Artwork Conversion Software develops CAD translators, high speed viewers and high resolution rasterizers (vector to bitmap) for CAD data bases such as GDSII, Gerber, DXF, MEBES, OASIS, ODB++ (and more) for output to desktop or wide-format printers and plotters.
