SolidWorks Collaboration Edition brings real-time collaboration to design reviews

SolidWorks Collaboration Edition includes all of the design software modules of SolidWorks Office – the complete 3D CAD solution – plus 3D TeamWorks, a web-based service that enables real-time design reviews. 3D TeamWorks lets you collaborate with people who use other types of CAD systems as well as with people who don't use CAD at all, across the hall or on the other side of the globe. Easy to set up and use, 3D TeamWorks does not require the installation of costly software on the PCs of your extended design team nor does it overtax the capacity of your network.

"Your design team can include vendors, partners, suppliers, and customers that are located all over the world. Real-time design reviews with 3D TeamWorks
Unlike enterprise collaboration solutions that require significant time and expense to implement, 3D TeamWorks is easy to set up and use. You can upload product design data, invite your team to join you, and begin collaborating immediately. The secure, encrypted web server is hosted by SolidWorks. Project files are stored in a central location rather than on your hard drive, so data only needs to be uploaded once. The members of your team need only a web connection and browser to view project files and participate in collaboration sessions. Built-in eDrawings viewing technology enables viewing, markup, and measuring capabilities that speed design, providing a familiar interface for real-time collaboration.

Universal file-sharing
3D TeamWorks lets you share CAD data using a variety of industry-standard file formats. An online file translation engine quickly and easily converts data to the desired 2D or 3D format. Your team can also share non-CAD documents, such as image files, finite element analysis data, change orders, and Microsoft® Office documents.

The universal file-sharing capabilities of 3D TeamWorks greatly enhances collaboration with extended design teams according to Scott Harris, Cofounder and Vice President of Collaborative Services at SolidWorks. "Most manufacturers want to avoid engineering change orders (ECOs) because they are extremely expensive," Harris notes. "With 3D TeamWorks, all parties involved in the production of a design, whether a service bureau, machine shop, OEM provider, or end customer, can collaborate on and review a design during preproduction, which helps to minimize errors, rework, and delays."

Design team management tools
3D TeamWorks provides a variety of team management tools to help project leaders coordinate projects and share important design data asynchronously, including email notifications of design changes, threaded discussions, a calendar for scheduling project milestones, a task organizer, an address book, and history logs.

Fully integrated with SolidWorks 3D modeling software

A simple wizard interface lets you create a workspace, add team members, and upload data directly from SolidWorks 3D modeling software. Team members can also upload or download data directly from 3D TeamWorks through standard Windows® web folders.
